Welcome to AwhiRise
AwhiRise evolved from Social Socks, a heart-led initiative generously gifted to us by Lesley Giles. Originally designed for junior and senior students, Social Socks used puppets to help neurodivergent children recognize and articulate their emotions, while equipping teacher aides with practical co-regulation strategies in the classroom.
We are actively co-developing AwhiRise to align seamlessly with the new curriculum across Health, Science, Literacy, and Sport. Guided by Trudy’s background in C21 learning and Karen’s extensive experience as an educator and lecturer, with valued support from Lorraine and Lara, our team is crafting a hands-on tool to meet the real-world needs of modern educators.
Phase One is currently in development.
Empowering Educators & Whānau
Our vision is to share AwhiRise with the Ministry of Education, school principals, teachers, teacher aides, social workers, and caregivers. Through targeted professional development and practical training, we aim to empower these support networks to uplift neurodivergent tamariki.
