Butterfly Compassion Community is guided by a Governance Board committed to integrity, accountability and the wellbeing of the communities we serve. Our Board ensures that BCC operates safely, ethically and sustainably as a volunteer-led charitable organisation.

We uphold strong governance practices that protect our kaupapa, our people and the whānau we support.

What the Board Is Responsible For

Our Governance Board provides oversight in the following areas:

Strategic direction: setting long-term priorities and ensuring alignment with our kaupapa

Financial stewardship: monitoring budgets, funding and responsible use of resources

Risk and safety: ensuring safe practice, privacy and ethical decision-making

Programme oversight: monitoring impact, quality, and community need

Partnerships and accountability: maintaining trust with funders, partners, and the community

Organisational wellbeing: supporting sustainable growth and volunteer care

This ensures BCC remains a trusted, transparent and community-driven organisation.

- Iwi Māori Representation (Pending) We are taking guidance on the right tikanga-based process for appointing iwi representation, ensuring the role reflects local relationships, community voice and Te Tiriti partnership.
